Saving Serum

| All samples submitted to the laboratory are saved in the refrigerator
for 5 working days. After this time, they are discarded. The samples
can be picked up during this time, but they have to be signed out
(there is a sign up sheet in the reception area). We can keep serum
or plasma samples longer than this time if required. To save the serum
or plasma, check "FREEZE SERUM" on the chemistry request
form. A fee of $2.00/sample is added for freezing samples. We periodically
go through our freezer and contact the clinician to prevent over-storage
of very old samples.
